Live in the City Limits of Ottawa, KS? Own a dog?
Prairie Paws Animal Shelter is contracted with the City Of Ottawa, KS to issue licensing of dogs within the city limits. All proceeds go to the shelter pets, how cool is that? The City of Ottawa, KS requires all dogs residing within city limits to be licensed. If they are not the city reserves the right to issue a fine to the owners of the unlicensed dog.
It easy! Just download the application and bring it into our office at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter during business hours (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 11 am – 6 pm and Saturday 11 am – 4 pm) along with proof of current Rabies vaccination for all dogs getting licensed. A current rabies certificate is required.
Please note unless you newly acquired your dog or just moved to Ottawa, KS all licenses issued will include a late fee of $20.00 if not being renewed or issued between December 16th and February 15th. All licenses renew at the same time. For example, if you purchased a license on October 31st, you would still need to renew between the time frame of January 1st (early registration starts December 16th) and February 15th to avoid the $20.00 late fee.
Don’t want to come to see us at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter to renew or purchase a tag? Too hard to walk in an animal shelter and not want to take every animal home? Can’t make the drive? Shelter hours don’t coincide with your schedule? Mail us your vet issued rabies certificate and proof of sterilization (if your dog is sterilized), a copy of your driver’s license and a self-addressed stamped envelope (two stamps should do). Download, print, fill out and include this form: https://prairiepaws.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/License-Application-Revised-V3.2.pdf Make sure to enclose payment: $8.00 for each sterilized (spayed or neutered) dog, $40.00 for each intact dog, add $5.00 (per tag) if you want the special edition Bark Park Tag instead of the normal tag (the $5.00 goes to the Bark Park), add another $5.00 (per pet tag) if want Sutton’s Jewelry Inc to engrave your tag with personal information (we send you a receipt and you take them the tag and the nice folks at Sutton’s will happily engrave the tag.)
Your neighbors, the City of Ottawa, Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and the Ottawa Police Department thank you for your responsible pet ownership in advance.
